Did you ever wonder how often you should get your chimney serviced with a gas log set? You should consider getting your chimney swept on a regular basis, but there are certain things you can do in between sweeps to preserve your logs. I'm sure you've notice black soot on the logs, and the last thing you want to do is let that soot sit for too long. The soot will stain the logs if you do and you'll end up buying a new set to maintain the new look. So how can you clean them? You can take them outside and brush off the soot with a stiff bristle brush. DO NOT get them wet. If you do get them wet, they will become brittle and fall apart well before their life expectancy.
